A new start
Experience the unique sound of KORK harpist Sidsel and her amazing electric harp as she takes us far beyond the classical and traditional. Together with two incredible percussionists, Sidsel kicks off with a new start, new energy and a brand new album.
Do you know that a harp is so much more than you might imagine? A harp can groove; it can rock, it can push and pull and make you dance. At least that’s what happens when the harp is in the hands of Sidsel Walstad, one of the unique classical harpists in the world. Parallel to her career as solo harpist in Norwegian Radio Orchestra KORK, Sidsel has always run her own projects of a more experimental and playful kind, far removed from the classical sound of the harp.
In 2018 Sidsel is releasing her debut album “sidsel”. The new project shows alternative ways of experimenting and playing the harp. All old clichés of the harp as an angelic instrument are blown apart as the sound of the electric harp is combined with the sound of two percussionists, creating a dramatic and surprising soundscape. By bringing out the percussive and rhythmic potential of the electric harp, and with effects powerful enough to make an electric guitar player wish he had ten times as many strings to play on, Sidsel also proves how it’s not just the percussionists creating the groove, but the harp itself.
Sidsel´s new album will take you into a musical soundscape you’ve never experienced before, full of rhythm, energy and feelgood vibes.
