Harp and Kora
Album with Sidsel Walstad & Ibou Cissokho
Tamoo – A Musical Encounter Between Harp and Kora
The duo Sidsel Walstad (harp) and Ibou Cissokho (kora and vocals) was formed after an inspiring meeting through Global Oslo Music’s podcast series Artists Meet Artists. Two musical worlds – classical and electric harp from Norway, and deeply rooted West African traditions from Senegal – came together in a warm and creative collaboration.
The result is Tamoo, a work and album where harp and kora blend in melodic and rhythmic interplay. The music is composed by Ibou Cissokho and arranged by Sindre Hotvedt and Sidsel Walstad. The title Tamoo means “journey” in Wolof – a journey between cultures, expressions, and sonic landscapes.
The duo is joined on the album by renowned percussionist Sidiki Camara. The release is produced by Sindre Hotvedt, recorded at Urban Sound Studios, and released by Global Sonics with support from Arts Council Norway.
